Did Someone Say Zombie Apocalypse? Anyone ready?

Okay, So if you haven't heard the Miami naked guy who ate someone's face, here are 2 links:

  • http://www.3news.co.nz/Miami-police-kill-naked-man-found-eating-victims-face/tabid/417/articleID/255799/Default.aspx
So some people say that the guy just got high dose of bath salts, some say it's the nearing of the zombie apocalypse and some just don't care.

I'm not saying that the Zombie Apocalypse is nearing, but let's just prepare incase there is. Better safe than sorry,  right?

4 tips:
~Don’t go out at night. (Did you know what happened to Dale when he went out at night?)
~Try not to get attention. ( Need to say more?)
~Try to avoid crowded areas. (The first mistake Rick made *I think*)
~Presence of mind (The key to survival)

So This is what you need:
*Okay, I'm not saying you should get all equipments listed here
  • Medications and first-aid kit (for injuries or accidents)
  • Food (Foods that aren't messy and non-perishable)
  • Water (Okay, so anyone here who wants to get dehydrated?)
  • Important documents (Anything that you think you could use in an apocalyptic world)
  • Radio
  • Flashlights
  • Bag
  • Lighter (what? old school games has them)
  • Duct tape
  • Binoculars/Night vision googles
  • Bolt cutters
  • Flare (So, who'll volunteer to go inside a dark room without worrying zombies might eat you there?)

Weapons:

  • Knife (not a kitchen knife! It could be a Combat knife, Swiss Army knife, and whatnot)
  • Crowbar
  • Machete
  • Guns (For me, don't get a shotgun, it's noisy and could attract a horde of zombies)
  • Baseball bat (preferably aluminum)
  • Cricket bat
  • Golf clubs
  • Cross Bows/ Bows
  • Katana (If you have one)
  • Grenades
  • Pipe bomb and smoke bomb (I'm not sure if those are real, I just saw those in L4D)
  • Chainsaw (Noisy and could attract a horde of zombies)
  • Saw
  • Axe
The primary weapon in most games....the handgun

Clothing:

Please...... NO SHORT SHORTS OR SLEEVELESS CLOTHING! (And please, don't use slippers)

  • Pants (Jeans, cargo, and whatnot)
  • Jacket
  • Vest
  • Shirts w/ long sleeves
  • Body suit
  • Chain mail (Let's go medieval, hehe)
  • Pack some underwear
  • Tough and sturdy shoes (Military boots, combat boots, running shoes, whatnot)
  • Socks
  • Gloves
  • Knee and elbow pads (Optional)
  • Helmet (This is optional, You may also use gas masks) << LOL RE:ORC

*****I'm not really excited for this, in fact... I don't like it....
Think of everything you have now, everything we take for granted... may it be games, our laptop, pets, the internet, your job, texting, vacation, watching movies, technology, friends, family, your collection and etc.

Imagine it's the zombie apocalypse now...
and now imagine all the think you take for granted, GONE. And the only thing left are zombies, survivors, and you....
Do you even think you'll survive till the end of time? (If yes, how arrogantly confident of you)
And now...
Since there are no laws and rights, what if you unfortunately cross with a band of thugs or punks who have no hesitation of killing or raping you and then loot you. (Think of the Walking Dead)

Hi, What character can I cosplay?

NOTE: I'm not targeting certain people/cosplayers in this post. I would just like to speak my mind because I'm sick and tired of cosplayers who are always or most of the time being out-of-character.

That question and in its every other forms ......... annoys me to the very core. =_=

What other forms? Like this:
  • What character do I resemble?
  • Can you suggest me characters who has pink hair? (Or any other hair color or feature)
  •  Anime/series that has cool costumes?
  • I want to cosplay, what characters suits me?
  • What characters can you suggest who has simple clothes, I want to cosplay them.
  • I have long brown hair, black eyes and I'm 5'1. What characters can I cosplay?
  • I'm taking requests, what character can I cosplay?
And whatnot.....

You may ask....."Why do you care so much about us who asks those questions?"

My answer?

  • I cosplay a character because I LOVE and LIKE the character personally.
  • It offends the actual fans of the character.
  • Those cosplayers who are out-of-character kills the character(And the worst, our favorite character) I think nobody wants to see a Sepiroth with the "peace" pose. xD

Crappy photo. >.<
But at least I can show you what I mean. xD
Me as Saya, Lot Dolfo as Saeko and Halan Nomax as a zombie.

Look, If you want to cosplay, cosplay your favorite character. That way, you can cosplay easily portray thrm and you can have fun(Real fun). Do research and practice making poses(In character of course).

If you want to cosplay because you want to be famous or "pa-cute", do us(and yourself) a favor and DON'T cosplay.

Cosplay is short for costume role-play. So it means it just not simply to dress up as a character, but to portray them as well. Giving your 100% every time you cosplay.

Take your time and reflect. And Answer this question to yourself, "Why do I cosplay?"

Here are some of my favorite characters whom I cosplayed in the past days/months/years
.
Me, doing the signature hair flip of Beatrix <3

Left to right: Zidane Tribal(Richard), Beatrix(me), Freya(Angelo Formoso)
Final Fantasy 9

Heisuke Todou - Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan

Asuka Kazama -Tekken

Chizuru Yukimura - Hakuouki

Here's a little message from sir Sharivan Spark to the younger generation of cosplayers:

"A little message towards the younger generation of cosplayers.. YOU did not come here to became famewhores, attentionwhores or to think that this hobby is meant as a stepping stone to stardom. Just enjoy this hobby as it is and find the fun and reasons you wanted to see while you are cosplaying ok that is all. Enjoy this hobby and find new friends who knows the one you are searching for who is heavenly matched for you is right up in the corner in the cosplay community. That is all thank you for the interview and have a nice day."  (Taken from my FB page)

You get the picture. I think you know what I'm wishing for.  :P

Have a nice day~

Spectre Cosplay

I did a lot of preparations for this cosplay!

Originally, I was supposed to cosplay Lonewolf, but since I'll be kinda "lonely", Some friends told me to cosplay Spectre instead. I liked the idea. Since I kinda like him, I researched all about him. He became my favorite in the U.S.S. and since I favor snipers, hihi~ :3

Spectre is a character from Resident Evil. Appeared at Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City.

"

At first, I had no idea where to start.
Good thing I was helped by a fellow DA user (TwinkieSniper) and by my Resident Evil family.

I made/altered the mask and balaclava. I added zippers to the balaclava(took me almost a week due to school) and as for the mask, I bought a mask used at airsoft and a half mask at the Hardware. I used different sized PVC pipes for the zooming lens.

I used an old cellphone for the datapod and as for the thing at the back, I used an antenna from a radio, and a wire from a dualshock controller(not working anymore) to connect the datapod and the antenna at the back.

I bought most of the military stuffs at Manang Lumings (located at Quezon Blvd., near Quiapo Church)
Here's a map

I think I was the first to cosplay Spectre in the Philippines(debuted during April 1st if 2012). =))

I was kinda hoping the sales ladies will recognize me (there's even a big poster of RE:ORC there!)
 xD Fail :P

I wish I gave justice to Spectre  =)))

Dealing with KP

What is KP?

  • Commonly known as Keratosis Pilaris. It's a common skin condition that looks like small goose bumps, which are actually dead skin cells that build up around the hair follicle. -TheFreeDictionary.com
  • is a common, autosomadominantgenetic follicular condition that is manifested by the appearance of rough bumps on the skin. - Wikipedia

Okay, so if you're a cosplayer with KP in their arms (like me), you might be shy to cosplay your favorite characters with sleeveless clothes because you have KP in your arms.
I've been wanting to cosplay Tifa, Serah, Yuffie and Beatrix for a long time now. So if you can't wait for it to disappear, try this technique I used when I cosplayed Serah Farron.

The KP in my big arms xD

What you need:

  • Concealer
  • Foundation or powder (Or you can use both)
Note: If you're allergic to make-up, pls. don't use this technique.

First, put some concealer in the affected area. Don't smudge it. it'll blend with the foundation/powder.
Then apply foundation.

Be careful because your upper arms might have a lighter color than your lower arms. Make the color even.

During the event, people didn't notice the ugly bumps in my arms. I even asked some of my friends if they can see the bumps in my arms. =)) LOL

Cure Cards

Only a few cosplayers in the Philippines have their own cure cards. I hope it'll become a trend here.

Cure cards are like business cards. It let's you to keep in touch with the person.

Anyway, here are examples of cure cards:

My 2nd batch of cure cards.

Okay, so how could you make them?
Easy, go to adobe photoshop (I'm using CS4).

But wait, what if you're a noob at photoshop?
Don't worry, I have a basic step by step procedure for you to follow. Hehehe.

Upload your picture, then go to Image and click Image size.
This should be the standard size for your cure card:

For landscape

Or this.

For portrait

As a rule of a thumb, you should always use resolutions 300 and above since you're going to print this.

And then click ok. then you could start editing.

Things you could put in your cure card:

  • Your name
  • Your alias (If you have one)
  • FB page (If you have one)
  • FB profile
  • Your e-mail
  • DevaintART account (If you have one)
  • Cure number (If you have a Cosplay Cure Account)
  • Photographer of the picture (Optional)
  • Your blog (If you have one)
And others...

I've seen different formats in creating cure cards. Others has a resolution of 350, and etc.

After having them printed, go get yourself a container for your cards.

I hope we could exchange cosplay cure cards in the future (If you'll be making one). :3
I wish I was a bit helpful to you xD
